42 new homes in curtlage of listed villa

Kay Elliott has won planning permission for the extensive refurbishment and extension of an historic Grade II listed hillside Villa in Torquay.

The proposals for the former Bishops Court Hotel, Torquay, will restore the original mansion house and reinstate its historic terraced gardens, lost to recent developments, whilst accommodating a number of high quality houses and apartments.

The Torbay Design Review Panel made the following comments prior to approval:

“The strategic approach to the landscaping, use of townhouse accommodation, the control of views, the separation and differentiation of the listed villa building were all thought to contribute to a well thought out and intelligent solution to a challenging brief and difficult set of conditions on the site”
