Kay Elliott are delighted to have won the prestigious award for Best Partnership and were also highly commended in the Best Large Commercial Building category at the 2015 LABC Awards event for their Abbey Sands project in Torquay. The scheme, which has been hugely successful in regenerating this part of the English Riviera, was a principal BIM project for the contractor Balfour Beatty on behalf of the developer Havard Estates.

Tanya Griffiths and Martin Jones, who attended the event from the Kay Elliott design team, competed against finalists from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset at the south west region LABC Building Excellence Awards. Kay Elliott now progress to compete at the National Grand Finals which are to be held in London at the end of the year.

Martin Jones, project Architect said “We deliver outstanding projects by priding ourselves on establishing excellent communication with Building Control from the outset of all our projects. We map out key principles and strategies early and develop an open, two way dialogue with Officers on complex buildings with mixed uses such as this. This strategy has always worked well for Kay Elliott and winning these awards is an example of how Kay Elliott’s methodology works in practise when delivering large, mixed use buildings”.

Kay Elliott won Best Partnership with a Local Authority Building Control Team working with Torbay Council Building Control and was highly commended in the category for Best Large Commercial Building and the annual LABC event.
