Madame Tussauds Sydney

Madame Tussauds Sydney has been recognised as Australia’s Best New Tourism Development at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. Kay Elliott was appointed lead designer for the £9.5 million attraction which opened to the public in April 2012.

Situated on the water’s edge at Aquarium Wharf, Darling Harbour, the 1,800 sq m attraction has over 70 wax figures and more than 30 interactive experiences in nine fun-filled themed zones, giving visitors the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of Australia’s, and the world’s most famous celebrities.

Phil Webber, Director at Kay Elliott, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Madame Tussauds and the design team. The attraction, the thirteenth of its kind worldwide, is proving hugely popular with both domestic and international tourists alike.”

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards recognises excellence across a broad range of categories and is considered to be the Australian tourism industry’s premier awards program. The ceremony was held on Friday 15 February, 2013, at The Princes Wharf in Hobart, Tasmania.
